Microneedling Therapy for Collagen Stimulation – How it Works?

Microneedling Therapy

Microneedling is a less-invasive cosmetic process used to treat skin issues through collagen stimulation. It is also popular as collagen induction therapy and is beneficial in treating problems like –

Dark spots or skin patches [hyperpigmentation]
Acne
Hair loss
Scars
Poor skin elasticity
Large pores
Sun damage
Scars
Fine lines & wrinkles
Stretch marks

Microneedling is four times less costly than laser treatment. It works great for dark skin tone as there is no heat involved like in laser treatment, which can impact skin pigmentation. For automated collagen induction therapy [CIT] in Denver approach the cosmetic professionals at the Body Massage Wellness Spa.

How do CIT works?

The pinpricks from the CIT process cause a little injury to the skin surface stimulating the production of new collagen-rich tissue. The new skin tissue is more even in texture and tone. Injury and aging make the skin lose its collagen. Encouraging skin to generate new tissues rich in collagen also helps to make the skin firmer.

During the CIT process

A topical anesthetic is applied to lessen the possibility of prick pain.
The process is of half an hour and the topical anesthetic is applied one hour before the start of therapy.
A pen-like tool is used to make small pricks under your skin.
The pinpricks are minute and not visible after the process.
The tool is evenly moved across the skin with the aim that the rejuvenated new skin will be even.

What to expect post CIT?

CIT is not an invasive procedure like plastic surgery. The recovery time is low and there is hardly any downtime. The skin will be red and irritated but it vanished in a few days. The response is natural just like small bruises. If you feel comfortable then you can go back to your daily routine.

There will be some post-therapy guidelines to follow like wearing sunscreen compulsorily before you go out as skin is more sensitive when exposed to the rays of the sun. Stay away from makeup for a few days and even swimming pools or rivers to avoid allergic reactions. You may need several sessions to maintain treatment results. A doctor may advise other complementing therapies based on your personal goal.

Side effects or risks of Collagen Induction Therapy

The common side effect is a skin irritation that instantly follows the process. Redness is visible for some days before it dissipates. Approach the clinic support, if you notice –

Bleeding
Peeling
Infection
Yellowing

Which are the areas suitable for microneedling?

In general, CIT is used on the face to treat –

Acne scars
Age spots
Large pores
Wrinkles & fine lines
Other scars
Uneven skin tone
Skin elasticity issues

Besides facial concerns, CIT is recommended for stretch mark treatments on the abdominal and thigh region. People who have skin diseases like eczema or psoriasis or have recently had radiation therapy are not eligible for CIT. Pregnant women or those with a skin scar history or have open wounds must never consider CIT.

Collagen Induction therapy is not a quick fix and can need several sessions. It is a cosmetic process, so there is no insurance coverage. It is considered safe but has its risks.
